[030. Everybody's gotta find their way out. Shining through the dark.]
[Friends]
[Lydia doesn't look too happy, but it's hard to tell what, exactly, is off about her. She's definitely concerned and overall, there's something heavier about her posture, her expression.
She's sitting by her desk and beside her communicator is, a pile of the books given to her for Christmas about the supernatural and about banshees. She's been studying.]
I know a lot of people have been feeling off since we got back from the port. I was in the infirmary myself for over a day. But there's something else going on. Something about the Barge is different, I don't know what, exactly. But I can feel it.
It's not death, but almost like a shadow. We all need to be careful. [She knows not everyone she considers her friend knows she's a banshee. But she cares about them so she wants to warn them. She's just not ready to announce it to the entire barge and cause panic.]
[Andrew]
[That's not the only thing worrying her, however. She has her warden item, her key, in her hand and is looking down at it when she starts the video to her inmate.]
Hey. I think we need to talk.
[Spam - Kira]
[She has heard about Kira being awake again after her time at the infirmary. She hasn't been over there to see her yet, though. And she hasn't really talked to her since the day she learned about Jackson.
And she knows it's about time for her to apologize. Or-- at least make things clearer. So she makes her way over to Kira's room and knocks on her door, hoping she's actually there so they can get this over with.]
[Allison]
[She feels silly, leaving her a message like this. But she used to write her texts before coming here, before Allison's arrival. Of things she needed to talk to her best friend about. And she has been talking to her in her room, but right now she feels like she can't leave because she has research to do. To stop someone else from getting hurt. So this will have to do.]
I need you to wake up. If something bad's about to happen, [And it is.] I need to know for sure you're okay.
[Jean]
[She's been meaning to do this since he arrived, but there's been so much going on, she never actually followed through with it. But now that she's talking to him again, she figures he's waited long enough.]
Hey Jean, can I ask you something?

Oh. Hey, Lydia. Come in?
[She wasn't expecting the banshee, and she does remember their last conversation. Kira's comfortable with opening the door wider in invitation though, not sure what the intent is but not willing to turn Lydia away.]

[She glances inside the room before taking the offered invitation with a soft smile and stepping in.
Now she feels like she should have brought her something, like cookies. Too late now, though.]
Thanks. Stiles told me you were awake.

...I believe you, but -- when you say you can feel it.
How?
Private
Because of what I am. [She hesitates for a moment.]
I'm a banshee.

[She eyes him for a moment. It's not unusual for him to have an attitude, but--]
Are you okay? [She knows he was friends with Kara and while she didn't personally know the girl, she's heard about what happened to her.]

Truthfully he's not sure what to think about any of it yet.]
Are you okay? [He looks uncertain, troubled. He didn't know she'd been sick at all. Doesn't know if she'd died and death tolled or if it was something else.]
Friends Filter
I'm okay. [She smiles a little, because explaining banshees to him will probably be harder. She has no idea if there's anything supernatural in his world.]
Are you? Did you make it back to the ship?

He pauses on the stairs at her comment about a shadow, swallowing heavily before tucking the communicator back into his pocket.
Everyone has it but no one can lose it.
Stiles rakes a hand through his hair, forcing himself to take a deep breath and exhale slowly before continuing his trek to her room, knocking on the door and waiting for her to answer.]

They've always had a connection, she knows it got stronger after the ritual. But it feels clearer now, like she's more attuned to him. She doesn't know if it's because they're together, because she's in love with him now. She doesn't understand why, but it's definitely there.
So she just calls out, as she stands up:]
You know you can come in.

Can you be any more specific? [An actual question, not a sarcastic blow off, though he sounds reluctant.]
[ Filter ]
When death is coming I usually get voices, calling me, telling me something will happen. Noises that give me hints of the how or where. And I feel a pull toward it. This is different. It's not calling me, it's not pulling me. It's just there, like a cloud or a shadow. And it feels heavy.
[She sounds frustrated, because she is. She knows he knows so much about this and she can't even explain what she's feeling. She hates sounding uneducated.]

What port? What happened?
[Friends Filter]
[She smiles, relieved. And she's already locking up the art room so she can go find him.]
The port-- is a long story, but it's over. When did you wake up? Are you okay?

I'm sorry you were sick after the port, Miss Lydia.

[His symptoms, at least, have been mild: things seen from the corners of his eyes, gone when he focuses on them. It's almost easier this way. It lets him focus on her.]

[And it was both disgusting because of the nonstop bleeding from her ear. And enough to scare Stiles.]
Are you okay?

Shoot.

There's a new warden who showed up here a few weeks ago. He doesn't have any memory of his life, aside from about a week before he got to the barge. Do you think you could help?
