[After seeing Allison's message, after replying to it, Lydia made almost a beeline to Stiles' cabin. She knocked, but let herself in only to find him in bed, staring up at the ceiling. She didn't think twice before sliding in next to him and wrapping her arms around him without a word. There wasn't anything to say, they were both heartbroken and they wanted it all to go away. So they just laid there until they both fell asleep. Her before him, as usual.

Now, as she wakes up, she doesn't even know what time it is. Stiles seems to be out still, so she gets up off the bed slowly and steps into his bathroom to wash her face and take a second to thank the mix of waxes that make her mascara waterproof so she doesn't look like a racoon despite everything. Not that Stiles would care. But she does.

As she makes her way back into the bedroom as quietly as possible she spots the pink, ugly Christmas sweater her eight year old self left there when she went to get her coat, neatly folded over Stiles' desk. Lydia steps over to it and places a hand over it. Although it's ugly, she suddenly feels the urge to pull it on. It looks warm and comfortable. So she does. It instantly makes her feel lighter, comforted, warm.

And then she spots Stiles' Christmas sweater right next to where hers was. And a smile appears on her face.

Lydia sits down by the edge of his bed slowly not to scare him and gently places the sweater over his chest as she lifts a hand to brush at his hair.]

Stiles? Wake up.

[It's a few hours later and Lydia looks a lot more festive already. On top of her pink sweater, she has a red headband on, her make up and curls have been redone and she looks perfectly put together.

Behind her is her room, already all decorated with silver, purple and pink decorations. Along with a small, white Christmas tree in the corner, with ornaments in the same color scheme.]

Hello Barge!

The Holidays are coming up as you must have noticed and me and my helpful elves -- that is Stiles, Scott and Jackson -- have been going around the cabins to help everyone get a little more festive!

We're knocking on everyone's doors on the next few days and decorating for you! If you have a specific color schemes you'd like to see in your room, let us know and we'll help you!

Happy Holidays! [And with a bright grin, she waves at the camera, and hangs up.]

[Lydia's been very busy lately. On top of everything with Stiles and the decorating, she's been working on something else. Not alone, of course. Barbara, well Babs, did most of it. And Allison helped. But now it's done and she needs to hand them out.

It's late at night, past eleven, when she can be seen dropping boxes off by the following cabins: Bucky's, Steve's, Peter's, Isaac's, Kira's, Jackson's, Scott's, Allison's and finally, Stiles'. For those finding the packages, it'll include a note: Happy early Christmas, Pack! ♥ Lydia.

Alternatively, all during the day she can be found going up and down the hallways with a box of decorations and a determined smile on her face, or knocking right at your door with an offer to decorate.]

[And honestly, he couldn't be gladder to see her doing much better. It's just nice to see her smile, and have something to smile about.]

Well, I get the impression you were kinda busy last night. Playing Pony Express. Although I have more to thank you for than just package delivery. [Given that what was in the package was pretty special.]

Well, if you mean the decorations, I think Stiles volunteered to do yours, actually. It's in the same color scheme as his. [Red, white and blue. At least, that's what they'd agreed on initially.

And yes, she knows there's something else, but she's just giving him a hard time.]

I don't mean the decorations. But I'll have to thank him, too, then.

[And he knows you are giving him a hard time, and having way too much fun at it, to boot.

And two can play that game.]

Oh well, if you don't know what I'm talking about, I must be wrong.

[He's smiling too much to be a very good liar.]

[Lydia laughs when he smiles, because yep. He's a terrible liar. About as bad as Scott is.

And just because how amazing he's been for her lately, she'll go easy on him.

After a moment, she smiles.]

I know you have your own uniform but-- you're part of the pack. I wanted to make sure you felt like one of us.

[He'd definitely appreciate the break, if he knew he was getting one.]

I do, but... this one means a lot, Lydia. That means a lot. [He's never had a lot of friends, not like this, and it's exactly how he says - it means a lot to him.] Thank you. I think I can find a good use for it.

It looks like you're keeping pretty busy, playing Santa or otherwise.

[She smiles at him and nods. She didn't think he'd take offense, but it's good to know he looks really happy with the gift.]

You're welcome.

[And then, she smiles more at what he says, and nods.]

Yeah, it's been pretty busy, but at least it's been good busy for a change. How have you been doing?

[He is definitely really happy with it - and he was very pleasantly surprised. He's somehow found it easier to make friends on this Barge than he ever imagined - or than he ever has, back home.]

I hear you. Good busy is the best kind of busy - and Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. So, about the same, over here. Good busy, [working on Christmas presents, but shhh, that's a secret] and hoping we get a little bit of a breather before the next disaster. [He keeps it light with a smile, though - he really doesn't want any more disasters for at least a week or two, please.] And... trying to avoid the mistletoe.

[The fact that some of the Barge residents grew up idolizing him might help some. But Lydia isn't one of them. Steve is just a genuinely good, kind guy. And she knows she's better off surrounding herself with people like him now. They're a good influence on her.]

Don't jinx it, Steve. Be careful with what you say. [She's teasing, though. And she laughs at his mistletoe comment.]

Not every mistletoe situation is bad? [Lydia smirks a little and cocks her head.] Don't tell me there's not anyone on this ship you wouldn't like to accidentally be stuck under one with.

[Maybe it helps, but it still seems like a pretty weird way to make friends - and definitely not one he relies on.]

Oh - right, okay, okay. No, I definitely don't want any disasters. Not until the new year, at least. [Okay, not that he wants them at all.

He does laugh a little when she smirks at him, shrugging a little and looking absolutely totally innocent.] I didn't say that.

But usually it's more of a choice, who you get stuck under it with. [Or, at least, not obligatory, the way it seems to be around here.] Although I guess that ruins the Admiral's fun.

[Probably no weirder than bonding over getting bitten by the same psycho werewolf? The Beacon Hills pack knows no normal. Maybe that's why they get along.

But anyway, he's dishing much more interesting information. And that makes her want to help him get stuck with the right person underneath a mistletoe even more.]

So there is someone you're hoping to get under one, at the right time?

Now you'll have to tell me so I can give you a hand.

[Okay, probably not weirder than that. Sometimes not having anything normal is definitely a good way to bond.

He chuckles at that, shaking his head and looking the tiniest bit embarrassed.] Oh, no - no, I think that would be a bad idea. [He's grinning, teasing, but still.] In fact, it sounds downright dangerous.

C'mon Steve. You've faced all kinds of world-ending, apocalyptic dangers back home.

[Not that she knows of any specifics outside of war, but that's a terrifying enough experience for anyone. She just knows there are superhero businesses on top of it.

And yes, telling her specifically is dangerous, but then, she'll try to stop her smile from looking too mischievous so he doesn't notice.]

How bad can some innocent flirting be?

And they're all a hell of a lot easier than getting a date.

[He grins, but only because he realizes he's being stalked and you can't show weakness or you're doomed.] You haven't seen me flirt. I'm terrible at it.

[Too late, Steve. She has a radar.]

I can teach you a few tricks, I'm great at it.. Besides, you'll never get better at it if you don't practice.

[Great, just great. ABORT ABORT.]

Maybe, but as far as I'm aware, even practice is like taking your life into your own hands. I think I'm better off being hopeless, at least I'll keep all my limbs.

[Lydia laughs softly and shakes her head. She's laughing, but this is worse than she thought.]

When was the last time you went on an actual date, Steve?

Uh. A date, date?

[Sigh. You asked:] June 14th, 1943.

[And just to get the attention off himself -] It was a double date, anyway. Bucky ended up with both of 'em.

[He doesn't sound particularly peeved. More bemused.]

[Sadly? His answer is not entirely unexpected. The part about the date of his last, well, date, anyway. What does surprise her is the part about Bucky but-- she knows best friends can sometimes make terrible mistakes.

Like the time she kissed Scott to piss off Jackson even though he was kinda dating Allison. But nevermind that.]

So, practice. Give me a list of names and we'll set up double dates. Stiles and I will come with you guys so you know there's no danger of anyone stealing your dates. [Both because they're dating each other, surprise Steve? And well, Stiles wouldn't steal anyone's date, anyway. Couldn't? Doesn't matter.]

[It wasn't Bucky's fault - definitely not that time, and none of the other times, either. Bucky always worked hard to find a girl with a sister or a friend willing to give "his artist best friend" a chance, but when that friend turned out to be a ninety-pound asthmatic shorter than most of the girls he dated, there was nothing for it.

Besides, that particular time? Steve ditched them to try his luck at enlisting for a fifth time.] I'll think about it - I promise. [And he will, but he's still not sure dating is a good idea - or even practicing - for him. But it clearly means a lot to her, and she's willing to help him, and he doesn't want to turn down that kindness either. Maybe he could use all the help he can get.

Besides, he didn't miss that little hint, intentional or unintentional - and that gets a sly little smile.] So that's a steady thing, huh? [Good. They both deserve it.]

[She laughs softly, not at Steve, at the word steady. It's easy to forget sometimes when he comes from. But then she smiles and nods, because, well, she's pretty happy about it now. And comfortable with theis relationship.]

Yeah, it's a steady thing. [But don't think you'll get her distracted so easily, Steve.]

I'll be checking in with you, so you better really think about it. [You should be a little afraid now.]

[He can't help but look a little pleased.] That's nice to hear. [And he really, really means it.

But yeah, he's a lot afraid.

But he also realizes when there's no way out.] I don't doubt it - and I will.

[Although he's really not sure he's going to come up with anything satisfactory for you.]

Just think about it. [And with a wink at him, she starts to walk away. She doesn't wanna scare him too much just yet. Not unless he doesn't come up with his end of their deal.]
