[Lydia is bored and that just won't do. If she's going to be at the barge, she'll need something fun to do. At least until she has a pet of her own to play with. And she can't wait until she gets her own inmate. Lately she's been playing with others, and she even has a couple of favorites but it's not the same thing.

Until then, though, it will have to do. She considers going to find one of those to pass the time, but she wants something a little more challenging today. Of course she won't pass the opportunity if one of them cross her path, but as she makes her way down the hallways she's looking for a few specific individuals: Blight, Chris or Arya and Nymeria.

With the power loss and everything that has been going on, it's been a few days since she's seen Scott around and she just can't go long without taunting him or he will think she's done playing.

Of course, if she can't find any of her body guards for back up, she might just have to go find Scott's little sidekick instead. That always sends her message across, too because she knows the Alpha will be able to smell her all over his Beta.]

I wouldn't object. But then, you've got sense, unlike half the wretched ingrates in this place, inmate and warden alike.

[He thinks that she respects him, respects his power and his anger. Knows it isn't wise to taunt him when he's already ready to lash out. Too many others would rather poke at him for fun. Suicidal fools.]

The balance these days is precarious, at best. But that doesn't mean I'm in any hurry to let a bunch of strays try clawing their way to the top of a new world order. Can't have that.

[She smiles at the compliment. Because she does believe he means it as one. As much as he is convenient for her to have around, she really doesn't mind his company. She's always been really good at reading people, that's what makes her good at manipulating them, after all. And once she has him seeing her side, they can even pretend to have interesting conversations.]

It's such a relief to have someone who sees things for what they are in this place. I swear everyone is just worried about themselves to really see what we see. It's up to us to make sure a hormonal seventeen year old doesn't end up with more power than he can handle.

My pleasure. [Said in the rough, impatient offside that is his version of 'polite'.]

Well. There are some people here I would almost rather see the seventeen year old in charge, over. But that doesn't mean I should make it easy for him.

[That irritates her. If there is one seventeen year old worthy of being in charge it's her. But she won't say anything. Because she knows better. She will eliminate the obstacles first, and then she will take over.

She just needs to be patient.]

Don't underestimate him. You don't know him like I do. He is worse than you imagine and if he climbs to power? Anyone who isn't a part of his pack will be treated like an inmate.

[Lydia smiles.]

Better take care of him now, right?

Oh yes. Best to nip that aggravation in the bud. Before it sprouts.

[If Lydia wanted to take over, he might just let her. Might even back her play with the proper cajoling.

But that's a matter for a different time. Of course it hasn't even occurred to him that might be her endgame, yet.]

Too many people are running around trying to proclaim themselves the new king these days. Who looks around at a sinking ship and decides they want to take over for themselves? Who wants all this that badly?

Exactly.

[The fact that he agrees with her helps her mood improve. Not that she expects him to see her point of view, but maybe she can give him a little bit of information and see how he reacts.]

Mostly so crazies like McCall don't take control over it. And also, there are some pretty powerful people in here, whoever runs the ship? Runs them.

Do you want to run this ship, Lydia? [He says it offhand, really. He's at best casually interested in the answer.] It's...not the unworthiest of goals, I suppose.

Me, I'm starting to get pretty fed-up with this place.

Maybe. I haven't decided. [She hasn't decided if she wants to tell him or not. But it's better than back home for her. She certainly has more power.]

Are you thinking of leaving?

Perhaps. Possibly. If that's even an option anymore.

[He's to the point of being fed up enough where it's looking more tempting than it should to set the place on fire and go down with the ship.]

It would be a shame if you did.

[She's even sincere there. He's one of the few allies she has that she doesn't hate.]

And if it's not a possibility, isn't it better to take control of it than to let someone else [Someone like McCall] do it?

One step at a time. We stop the wolf, then we worry about who gets to be the new king of the hill. Something tells me it won't be as diplomatic as elections.

[He gives a feral grin at the thought. Far as powers go, he's one of the tougher contenders, and personally he'd love to have a front row seat on the sidelines as he watches some of his less favorite people on this ship tear each other apart.]

Deal.

[Lydia smiles. She needs him, she needs his power, his strength. But she will be taking the ship over herself. Even if she has to fight him for it eventually. She will come up with a plan when the time comes.]
