[Lydia isn't at all surprised that Scott is willing to sacrifice himself in order to keep them safe. It's the same thing all of them would do, have tried to do. She knows Stiles almost killed himself with that sword because he wanted to protect them, Allison went after her despite finding her warning because she wanted to save her, and even Lydia herself had accepted the idea of being trapped with the Nogitsune to protect Allison.
She supposes it comes with being part of a pack, the instinct to protect the others above anything else. Even if it doesn't always work out.]
