Character Name: Lydia Martin
Series: Teen Wolf
Age: 17
From When?: Post 3B finale.

Inmate/Warden: Warden. Lydia is a Lawful Good person. She may not seem like one, in fact she usually tries to pretend really hard to people she isn't close with that she isn't one, but she is. She focus on rules and guidelines and right and wrong and she will do whatever she can to stick as close to them as possible. Doing something wrong, despite her taste in guys leaning toward bad boys, is really hard on her.

Ever since she became a member of the pack, and especially after she found out she was a banshee, she has been working hard on figuring out what she can do and listening to the warnings of other banshees so she can help protect others. Within the pack itself, she has been very supportive of everyone, focusing more on their needs than her own, always. Lydia rather take care of her own problems herself rather than ask for help, but she is often offering help to others before they even have to say they need it.

With inmates, she will be supportive when necessary, but stern when needed too. She is a natural leader, but she knows how to step to the background if the person she is trying to help needs space to figure things out for themselves.

Item: Smartphone.

Abilities/Powers: As a Banshee, Lydia can attune her hearing to the supernatural. She can hear things no one else can. When there is an upcoming threat of death, Lydia will get warnings, usually in form of sounds. These warnings aren't always very clear, they can go from whispers to a sound that will be related to the death and, if in luck, Lydia will be able to figure out this warning fast enough to help stop the death from happening.

But upcoming death isn't all she can sense. She is also able to hear deaths that have happened in a certain place, especially very emotional events such as suicides.

For her, while she will have the overwhelming need to wail when someone dies, she can also use her banshee screams to shut down all of the normal world noises and be able to focus on the warnings being given to her. She can hear all other banshees, they whisper to each other and warn each other of dangers.

Lydia has also been known to be able to sense upcoming death of enemies at certain locations. Almost in a role of a Morrigan, before a battle between two powerful werewolf packs, she felt like she was standing in a graveyard and the side her pack was fighting for ended up winning the battle.

Personality: Lydia is very much high maintenance. For those who don't know her well enough she is the typical popular high school girl everyone loves to hate and everyone would love to be. She is beautiful and she knows it, knows how to dress herself and her make up and hair are always flawless. Lydia is also always getting the attention of pretty much every member of the male species that walks her way and she enjoys that attention.

But on the inside, Lydia is very different from the exterior image she wants everyone to see and know her for. She's not an airhead like she makes others believe just so she can hold her title of Ms. Popularity. She is extremely intelligent, in fact, she had a genius level IQ and is a straight A student. But she tries to keep that, along with most of her fears and insecurities to herself. It's not so much that she is ashamed of her intelligence but she doesn't want it to ruin the image she created for herself. Life is much easier if you're pretty and dumb.

Lydia is also not as detached as she may seem. Although she doesn't let it show in front of everyone, Allison, Scott and Stiles have all seen her when she was terrified because of everything that has been happening to her since Peter Hale came after her on the lacrosse field. She pretends like everything is fine a lot but she still isn't fully sure of what he did to her and what she became. She spent most of the past year trying to fight all of the changes and weird things that happened around her and with her (especially tracking dead bodies), but she is finally learning to embrace her 'gift' to try and help people so she can track them before they become dead bodies.

Although Lydia is self-confident in her appearance and even secretly in her intelligence (and not so secretly in her abilities in the bedroom), as someone who is highly logical and scientific minded, dealing with the supernatural and something as abstract as her banshee powers hasn't been easy on her. Since there is no credible book she can read about it, no guidelines she can follow to learn how to control her abilities, she doesn't feel confident in them or in what she is doing.

The pack, especially Stiles and Scott have been a great help when it comes to getting her to believe in her powers. Because Lydia, who doesn't really have much of a relationship with either of her parents, really has come to see the pack as her family. She has learned to let herself lean on them and listen to them when she feels like she needs the reassurance or even just the reminder that no, she's not alone and that yes, they believe she can do this.

Revision One: A big part of Lydia's need to be popular comes from her relationship with her parents. Or lack of one. Her parents have always been self-centered people and while they care about her, they always gave her things rather than spend time with her. They told her that to succeed she had to focus on appearances and while her mom is also smart (she's a chemistry teacher at Beacon Hills High), she focuses on more superficial things. Most her conversations with Lydia were about her looks, and how to get boys.

Because of that, one of the things Lydia craves the most is attention. Both to make up for the lack of attention she gets at home and because she was taught that being the center of attention means she is doing something right. The flirting helps her with her need for attention but Lydia also feels very lonely and instead of getting close to people emotionally, she gets close to them physically. Being the most popular girl in school means she's untouchable for most people so she uses flirting to get close to guys and to get her share of human interaction. Although lately as the pack becomes her family she has toned that down a little in comparison to a couple of years ago. She is learning to let herself get emotionally close to them, especially Stiles and Allison before she was murdered.

As for her guilt and insecurities, Lydia internalizes it as much as possible. She will try to work through it by helping others but because she refuses to let people see just how broken she is about it and how guilty she feels, there will always be residual guilt she won't work her way through. And a lot of this guilt and insecurity is rooted on the fact that she can't fully control her powers. She got the warning for Allison's death and she tried to get another banshee to warn her friends to stay away but her message wasn't clear enough so Allison died anyway. For this guilt specifically, her solution will be to obsess on improving herself and mastering her powers.

Barge Reactions: Considering Lydia is coming right after losing her best friend and literally minutes after she saw her boytoy/not boyfriend's body on the floor a few feet away, Lydia will be very emotionally detached for a while. She isn't one to externalize her feelings, so she while she will talk to everyone and might even overcompensate for how crappy she feels and be overly sociable, it will take her a while to fully process where she is and what it all means.

Once the shock/grief starts to get better, she will become more interested in people. She is very sociable normally and she leans toward the bad boys/no good for her types, so she will probably talk to inmates more than to other wardens normally. When she finds out there is another banshee there, she will definitely seek her out (Sylvanas!) in particular, because one of the things she wants to be able to do is understand better about what she is.

As for fandoms/fictional characters, that will be a weird one, but Lydia will be mostly interested from a very scientific point of view at first. How is it possible? Why are they here? She might seek out a few fictional people of her personal interest eventually for flirting purposes, but not until she's in a less fragile state. Flirting is her favorite type of distraction.

Revision Two: As for the traumatic deaths that happened in the ship, this will definitely mess with her. Lydia will be able to hear each and every one of them happening as if they were happening right there as she walks past the places where the deaths happened. Until she hears them all, she will be overly sensitive and unable to focus. Although she can't see anything she can hear the scenes play out clearly and her mind fills out the blank and paints a very clear picture for her. Considering the recent deaths around her, this will certainly bother her a lot. Lydia won't share this information with anyone, but she will listen careful and pay attention to the dead as they tell her their story, mostly out of respect. I'd love to get a list of deaths from the mods so I can play with this. As for traumatic events, unless they resulted in death, she wouldn't be able to pick up on those.

History: Lydia Martin was born and raised in Beacon Hills. Her parents are divorced and she lives with her mom who she is pretty close to. Her mom was also popular with boys in high school so she gets a lot of tips from her and they spend time together most days while her mom does her hair for her before school, to make sure she looks her best.

During her freshmen year of High School, she was dating Jackson Whittemore, the star from the Lacrosse team and she became friends with Allison Argent, quickly bringing her to the popular kids clique. But it was also during that year that things started to change for her. After seeing a huge wolf, that she later found was an Alpha Werewolf breaking out of the video store, she begun to be more aware of the strange things that happened around Beacon Hills. But it wasn't until Jackson broke up with her and she was attacked by Peter Hale on the football field that things really took a turn for the worse.

After the attack, she started to have hallucinations and although she did her best to pretend not to be bothered by them, they got creeper and creeper every time she had them. Shortly before her birthday, Peter told her he had a plan for her and her party guests since it fell on the night of the worm moon. She was mind controlled by him to perform a ritual to bring him back to life. As if having a creepy stalker use her to bring him back from the dead wasn't enough she also found out Jackson, her ex-boyfriend was a Kanima. She watched him die only to also bring him back to life by reminding him of their feelings for each other and by doing that, she helped him turn from a Kanima to a werewolf.

But Jackson left for London and she couldn't just wait around for him so she spent most of the summer keeping herself entertained with other guys. All kinds of guys. But even with the whole Peter thing behind her, her hallucinations didn't stop. They became more hearing-focused and she started to just show up at crime scenes only to discover dead bodies. It wasn't until their would-be English teacher kidnapped her that she was told she was a banshee. Since her 'ability' didn't seem to want to go away, Lydia decided to use it for good and to try and help find people so Scott could get to them before the murders happened.

After that, Lydia started to spend more and more time with Stiles. Mostly researching things for the pack and about herself, but the two definitely started growing closer. He begun helping her with her banshee powers and she was just starting to feel more confident in them when Stiles got possessed by an ancient Japanese spirit called the Nogitsune. For weeks, she and Scott, along with the rest of the pack focused on nothing more than to try and find Stiles, to help him get rid of the trickster spirit.

It came down to Lydia reaching out to none other than Peter Hale himself since he seemed to be the only one with the knowledge they needed to save their friend. She gave up the one weapon she had against the man in exchange for information and help to save Stiles. Peter guided her and Scott into Stiles' mind and they helped separate the spirit from their friend's body, but the Nogitsune was still there.

With a body of his own, he kidnapped Lydia and used her to lure the others in order to take control of the Oni. A group of neutral spirits that were sent after the Nogitsune himself. Being a banshee, Lydia had sensed the conflict between the Pack and the Nogitsune-controlled Oni was going to result in the death of her best friend, Allison, so she tried to stop them from finding her, leaving them messages along the way. But they ignored the messages and Allison's life was lost the exact way Lydia had predicted.

Even after Allison's death, they still had to face the Nogitsune himself. So Lydia, a very weak Stiles, Scott and his new girlfriend Kira found a way to get rid of him for good, by turning him into a werewolf, since the Nogitsune is technically a werefox, and no creature could be both things at the same time. Things were quiet, and Lydia thought it was over, but it wasn't.

Just as she was making sure Stiles was okay after they got rid of the Nogitsune, she felt another death, only to find it had been Aiden. While he wasn't her boyfriend and Lydia never meant for him to get overly involved with her, finding out he had decided to fight just to prove to her that he could be one of the good guys so she might see him as something more had just added to her guilt.

Sample Journal Entry:

Hello! Lydia Martin here.

[Along with a bright smile, she has perfect strawberry blond curls and make up to help her conceal the dark circles under her eyes and the fears and insecurities that come with her deal being accepted.

Because really, she doesn't know if she can do it.

At all.]

I'm a new Warden here at the Barge so I wanted to introduce myself and get to know a few of you. I'm sure there are all kinds of interesting people here.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I'm from Beacon Hills, California. I have a dog named Prada back home and I absolutely love clothes, shoes and really anything to do with fashion. Other fashionistas on board should let me know who you are!

Hm, what else? Ask me! That will make this much more fun.

[The pretending is exhausting already, but she doesn't know how else to do this for now.]

Revision 3: (Based on the second revision, if Lydia heard a death on board the ship. Since I don't know what happened, I'm making one up, hope this is okay!)

[Voice Post]

Hello? I-- I need help on deck. Is anyone around here? Can anyone else hear them?

[The sound is very clear for her, but she can't see them. The voices are yelling at each other. One man tells the other that he can't do this anymore, that he isn't going to reform. That he can't erase what he's done. The second voice is calmer, trying to tell the first he can help. But then it's too late.

A gun fires and Lydia gasps.]

Oh God. Anyone! Please, just help me find them. I don't know where they are. Did anyone else hear them?

Did you hear the gun?

We might still have time. I need to find them quickly!
----

I also have an all first person conversation for her here, I don't know if you guys would accept something like that.

Sample RP:

It's almost ironic, really. But she had to try.

Being brought here to be a Warden, to help someone else deal with their crimes, to guide an inmate from being one of the 'bad guys' over to one of the 'good guys', or at least to find a path toward forgiveness and reform, anyway. Especially now of all times. Especially after she just failed someone who was trying to do that, exactly.

Lydia started seeing Aiden mostly because she wanted a distraction. No, not mostly. Just because she wanted a distraction. Jackson, her previous boyfriend had broken her heart but she loved sex and she constantly craved physical contact, so she wanted a boy toy. And Aiden had been perfect. Because not only was he totally okay with keeping it casual, he was also a werewolf. And that meant amazing stamina regeneration. So she kept him around.

Of course she wasn't stupid, really far from it, actually. So she'd noticed him coming around more often, sitting with her at school, but what really made her realize Aiden was developing feelings for her clearly had been his comments on Stiles. More specifically about how worried she had been about Stiles, and about his crush on her. Both of which she chose to ignore.

She chose to ignore it because that'd be too complicated otherwise. And she'd always known she didn't really have feelings for Aiden. She cared about him, just not like she had cared about Jackson, not at all like that.

But all of the sudden he was gone and Derek was telling her he had promised Aiden he would let her know he had stayed in Beacon Hills, that he had decided to fight the Oni to prove to Lydia that he could be one of the good guys. That he could be more than the werewolf that had killed Boyd and that he could be worthy of her, of Scott's pack. Like Stiles.

And she hadn't wanted any of that. Hadn't wanted him to reform, hadn't helped him reform. So yes, she found it ironic that this was now her job. That they accepted her offer when she made a deal with them, to reform one inmate in order to bring her best friend back to life. So although she didn't feel prepared, she was going to try her hardest, to do her best.

For Allison.
